Ready To Hire A Proven Direct Response Copywriter For Your Business or Project?

All great companies tell their story, capture their clients’ hearts and connect with them in real ways to improve the lifetime value of every customer. It’s how they grow their business. And it’s how you will grow your business too.

All Things Begin as Stories...

In fact, one of my favorite quotes from Rudyard Kipling is:
“If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten.”
To me, the 3 most powerful words in what he shared are these:

"Never be forgotten."

I have people today, over 20+ years later, who still vividly remember stories I told from stage in the early and mid 2000's.

Even better... I have stories other people told about me still circulating in the rumor and gossip mills all these years later.

Some true.
Many not.

But they're still talking, and THAT is the point.

The power of carefully crafted storytelling is undeniable. We are much more likely to remember the story if it makes us feel entertained or engaged, and we enjoy ourselves while listening as well!

Most important of all...

A great story leaves us asking...

"What Happens Next?"

Because (contrary to popular belief) people AREN'T driven by passion or purpose...

They are driven by the curiosity of:

What happens next.

And THAT is where the magic happens.

Elvis Presley was one asked by a reporter how it was that he was able to keep his audience enthralled to keep them coming back and he answered...

"Give them everything they want, but always leave them wanting more."

Elvis clearly knew the power of story - and the "what happens next" factor!

The world of business is fueled by stories.

From the most successful brand to a struggling salesperson or entrepreneur, everyone loves a good story and they rank among some of the most effective mediums for communicating messages to new customers.

If you're a...
  • Small Business,
  • eCommerce company, or
  • Entrepreneur
... or even an established Main Street business looking to connect your company with new markets, new clients and new profit sources, while attracting more customers who think like your current clients.

That's where Little Shop of Copy can help.

It may surprise you to hear me say this, but...

Sales copy, alone, doesn’t sell
your products and services.

Instead, taking your readers on a journey (we call it the "customer journey") throughout your marketing campaign (brand story) will increase sales every time.

Because EVERY brand has a story.

And that's why we weave our 3-step storytelling system in all our copywriting projects - inside your articles, blog posts, sales pages, ads and more - to increase reader engagement, and to help you get more leads and sales across the board.

Here's how it works...

Our 3-Step Storytelling System is Simple

... and humbly stands on the shoulders of giants.

Step 1: Connect

“Storytelling… good storytelling… is a vital component of every marketing campaign.”
Gary Halbert, Legendary Direct Marketing Guru
Every brand has a story. Every product has a story. Every service has a story. These stories are how people recognize and differentiate you and your products/services from your competitors.

Step 2: Persuade

“People don’t buy for logical reasons. They buy for emotional reasons.”
Zig Ziglar, Legendary Salesman, Author and Speaker
All people buy with their emotions and justify their purchase with logic. You have to capture their hearts and make them feel you. A brochure website listing your features simply isn’t good enough anymore.

Step 3: Sell

“People are looking for a connection. Tell a good enough story about your brand and people will not only get invested, they’ll want to buy from you.”
John Michael Morgan, Legendary Author, Brand Against the Machine
Connection is about REAL-ationships. Not your widget. It’s about what you can do for them. How you make their life easier in some unique way. Connection is the ultimate catalyst to more and better sales.

Every Brand Has a Story...

Starbucks has a story.
Starbucks was started by three University friends, Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl, and Gordon Bowker.

When brainstorming for a name, a partner in an advertising agency co-owned by Bowker, suggested that the name begin with the letters “ST.” He felt names starting with these two letters were strong names. The company used a map to try and come up with ideas, and one idea was for Starbo. This led another to think of a character from Moby-Dick (Starbuck). It is interesting that the logo for the company has a seafaring design even though the company claims there is no connection to the book or the character. It is just something that fit with those first two letters.
Pampers has a story.
The first disposable diaper was invented in 1956 by a Procter & Gamble researcher named Victor Mills. He had been unsatisfied with the options available for changing his grandson's cloth diapers, so he set out to find an easier way - and succeeded!

Mills never gave up trying new things; it’s what led him into creating something better than any before them: A dependable product that protects babies' softest parts while they're doing anything but sitting still (and even sometimes toward bedtime).

Today we can enjoy Pampers because of this successful challenge on behalf of little ones everywhere who need help being happy laughing babies.
Dollar Shave Club has a story.
A truly humble, "accidental success" kind of story...

The two company founders met at a party and somehow got onto the conversation about how expensive razor blades were. They felt frustrated by having to pay so much for replacements each month. After a discussion, they put together a marketing plan and determined how to sell a lower-cost alternative.

The company recognized that people don’t need fancy gadgets and paraphernalia when shaving. They need quality blades at affordable prices. Big companies like Gillette charge upwards of $4.00 to $5.00 per replacement cartridge. Dollar Shave Club gives you the same product for so much less (even though they do not make their own blades and you could buy from their source much cheaper).

According to Crunchbase, the company was able to raise $72 million. There were a series of funding sessions with large venture capitals participating. Recently (2016), Unilever bought the company for $1 billion.
YOUR COMPANY has a story.

How the Power of Story Helped Us Grow Over 500% During the Height of the Pandemic...

In March of 2019 I partnered with an advertising agency that was doing just enough revenue to not go under, and the founder wanted desperately to grow.

You see... year after year for the past ~5 years he had gone through the cycle of going from feeling good about what he was doing, to wanting to just burn it all down and get a job.

The fluctuations in revenue were like a rollercoaster. Some months it felt like things were heading in the right direction, then the bottom falls out and he's struggling to keep the lights on.

I have seen this in many business owners over the past 22+ years - it's a pretty common story.

The overwhelm, frustration and stress can eat away at the best of us.

Anyway, he reached out and connected with me, wanting to give it one more shot, and I agreed to do what I could to help.

We were making good progress then, in January 2020...

The pandemic hit.

Seeing businesses all around us fail, companies reigning in their spending and no longer investing in marketing, and this was causing advertising agencies to shut down left and right...

I knew we had to do something different just to survive.

That's When I Had the Idea...

There is a unique strategy that I learned from my "crusty, old direct response marketing" mentors (I say that with love and respect, and they know it) that I used for my own business - and it worked like gangbusters for me.

But I had never tried it for anyone else.

Would it work?

One way to find out...

So I put together this "Success Guide" for the agency. Really it was just my 3-step storytelling system to connect, persuade, and sell in pdf form.

When I was finished it was 45 pages long and its purpose was to share with every prospect - in story form - "our methodology, how we work, what we do, and how we help grow & scale your business!"

When they booked a call they got the Guide. We sent the Guide out to anyone who had contacted the agency before, even if they hadn't become a client. We sent the Guide out to prior clients. After the strategy call, we sent them the guide, pointing out specific sections in it supporting what we had spoken about on the call - reinforcing our STORY at every step.
The idea behind this came from an early mentor of mine who told me "share your story, share it over and over and over until you find the right way to tell it so people remember, then keep telling it over and over and over until you get sick of it because, just like a rock band who plays the same set over and over until THEY get sick of it after 20 years... it's not about YOU, IT'S ABOUT YOUR FANS and they want to share in your story!"

This Changed EVERYTHING.

The slow and steady growth (that I'm known for) was quickly overtaken by a sharp upturn in clients. We were looking at how to grow the team. How to deal with the sudden growth. How to receive referrals from other agencies who couldn't support their clients anymore.

All of this was scary stuff during these uncertain times.

But we went for it anyway!

Even our Facebook rep was shocked and said, "other agencies are failing, but you guys are one of the very few small agencies who are growing right now - what are you doing different?".

We hadn't changed anything else.
I already had the systems setup.

The only thing that changed was creating and telling our story in the "Success Guide" then sharing it with people.

And the company booked the biggest year on record.

Looking back on the math, by the time we were finished, and even during the height of the pandemic, the agency revenue grew by a mind-blowing 500% and was on a trajectory to at least double that in the next year!

THAT is the power of telling your story.

YOUR company has a story...

And, like hundreds of businesses have already discovered, your story can literally change EVERYTHING - that's why this is where we usually start with every client because this is the foundation upon which we can build everything else!

We'll take you through a simple 3-step process to craft your story...
Step 1: The Interview
We'll sit down and go through a tightly focused and productive interview to get the juicy details we’ll need to craft a powerful story for you. This process is painless and clients normally have a lot of fun sharing their story with us.

Plus, everything is recorded and transcribed for you, so it can be used for other purposes if you wish.
Step 2: The Story
Where it all starts coming into focus.

This is about organizing all your information, outlining your story, and writing your first draft.

The focus here will be on how you overcame a business, process, or people-related challenge to get to where you are.
Step 3: The Hook
This is where most people get stuck.
Most of our clients either don't know, or they think it's something it's not.

This is where we take the ordinary story we start with and find the “hook” or “angle” that will really make it sing for your client, patient, or customer, in a way they never forget you and keep coming back for more.
And, no matter what type of business you have...

Your story is the way.

Your story is the best way to capture your audience’s attention and keep it. And keep them wanting more. And wondering "what happens next".

Not just any story - emotional, well-crafted stories with a relatable hero (this can be you or someone else) showing how using your products or services changes their life for the better.

Story that has a specific framework designed to 1) connect, 2) persuade, and 3) sell.
Now, they still may or may not buy right there, BUT they are much more likely to want to, and they are much more likely to remember you. And that's the key. Maybe they buy 3 or 6 months later. I just had a fella come back to me last Friday, credit card out and ready to get started - and we haven't spoken in over 7 months! How many other people do you think he still remembers after 7 months, much less with his credit card out ready to buy? You already know the answer.

"The copywriting was 100% the best I have ever paid for, and the finished package is how a package should look to wow your clients. Can’t wait to get it all loaded!"

- Jeremy Kean, The Fundraising Wizard

"I’ve been able to focus on the FUN parts of my business rather than the “work”. While I initially hired Lee with borrowed money, he QUADRUPLED my income that first month. So it was totally worth it."

- Kristen Joy

"I can purchase our dream home this year without spending any more on housing than I am right now. I owe this current roll that I’m on, at least in part, to you. You are a blessing! Thanks Lee."

- Darrin Mish

"I show 330 sales as of now and we still have a day and a half to go with the last day usually being our biggest. We might have another record breaker on our hands!"

- Joseph Michael

"He’s smart, technical and a very good marketer – as in one of the few people who can actually write great copy that really sells."

- Brad Fallon

Let Us Help You Tell Your Story.

Full disclosure: If you're looking for someone who can just throw a bunch of generic words on a page at the cheapest price... I’m not your guy. (You can find plenty over on Fiverr).

• But, if your project and the results are important to you...
•• And you’re looking for a seasoned, veteran copywriter who "gets" marketing...
••• With 22+ years and over $311Million in successful copywriting experience...
•••• Who understands how to tap into your prospects' fears, frustrations, beliefs & desires...
••••• To connect your company with new markets, new clients and new profit sources...
•••••• While attracting more customers who think like your current clients.

AND... has helped thousands of companies around the world tell their story, capture their clients’ hearts, and connect in real ways (that often grew their business exponentially)...
We should talk.
OPTION 1: New Copy from Scratch
☑YES! Let's talk about my vision and explore what it will take to craft the kind of story that will connect, persuade and ultimately help me sell more to my audience.
Important: There will be no hard selling on this call, just a friendly conversation where I ask you some questions, you ask me some questions and, if it feels good, we'll talk about how we can help.
Also... When you setup your call, you will also receive a complimentary copy of our standard rate guide for all our available services. If you don't receive this pdf within 10 minutes of scheduling your call, let us know and we'll get it to you ASAP. Sometimes email systems arbitrarily block attachments.
OPTION 2: Optimize Existing Copy
☑YES! Already have copy? We'll suggest edits, updates, and recommendations that will improve conversions by helping you connect, persuade and sell to your audience.
Important: There will be no hard selling on this call, just a friendly conversation where I ask you some questions, you ask me some questions and, if it feels good, we'll talk about how we can help.
Important: This is always a no-obligation call and I LOVE talking about new projects... but please know in advance any project we discuss will reflect an investment in professional, high-quality copy, written personally by me and commensurate with my 23 years of experience and over $311Million in sales. My experience is not a discountable service. If you are on a tight budget, I may advise you to work with my team instead.

Design Attracts. Copy Sells.

All great companies tell their story, capture their clients’ hearts and connect with them in real ways. It’s how they grow their business. And it’s how you will grow your business too. Let's win. Together.

Sometimes I am asked...

Will you match a lower price?

I think you'll find the prices are more than fair. But, if you’re looking for bottom-of-the barrel, discount services I’m not your guy. My 22+ years of experience is not a discountable product.

Can you handle rush jobs?

No. I have always enjoyed writing and I take a lot of care in my copywriting. My clients deserve the best, and rushing through a job doesn't allow me to provide my best. You can't rush something you want to last forever.

Do you have any referrals?

I have privacy agreements with many of my clients (you’ll appreciate this when we work together) but there are a whole bunch of great people who have said nice things about me here.

May I see some copywriting samples?

Sure. Setup a call above and let's chat so I can get a feel for what you need. After I understand what you're looking for, I'll put something together just for you. (I don't like giving prescriptions without a diagnosis.)

Do you have experience in my industry?

If you sell B2B, B2C, or through eCommerce or direct response, or are an expert or entrepreneur, chances are I have some level of experience with your type of product or service. Take a look at the industries I have served and, if you still have questions, let's get on a call.

Who is Little Shop of Copy?

Little Shop of Copy is primarily Lee Collins. We do have a merry band of in-house junior copywriters who sometimes help with the more repetitive writing tasks. But Lee does 90% of the writing and Lee oversees and approves 100% of all writing before it is sent to any client.

How do I know I will like your work?

Super question. If we have done our job right before the copy is even written, it will already be a natural extension of your voice. In the the end testing the copy is far more important than "liking" it. As an example: the first sales copy I bought, I hated it when I read it. But when I ran traffic to it and it sold like cRaZy... I loved it. All that said, if there's a legit/legal reason for something we need to change, we can work on it. Oh, and if you're reading this far you already like my work, so we should be fine. ;-)

What industries have you written for?

So many, including: Alternative Health, B2B, Beauty Supplies, Coaching, Congress, Consulting, Craftsmen, Diet, eCommerce, Essential Oils, Figurines, Finance, Fitness, Fence Builders, Former NFL Players, Health, Home Defense, Influencers, Internet Marketing, Jewelry, Keto Diet, Luxury Hotels, Make Money Online, Mobile Apps, Network Marketing, Organic Skincare, Outdoor Goods, Personal Development, Personal Safety, Physical Products, Professional Services, Real Estate, Software (SaaS), Tech, Trading, Travel, Website Builders, Women’s Fashion, and probably a few more I have forgotten.

What should I have in place before I start?

We assume you’re coming in with nothing more than the desire to tell your story in a way that lands clients and builds your credibility. If you have materials or assets we can reference that is helpful but not necessary.

What are your fees?

Setup a call and I'll send you a pricing sheet.

What if I have a question not asked here?

Setup a call and I'll answer it.
